Thanks for stopping by, here’s my personal story
- Raised in Bangalore, India, I think my first memory of travel was when I was about five. I remember taking a train with my mum and brothers to visit my aunts in Kolar. It was all of a two-hour journey but for me, the memory stayed with me, right from the anticipation of the journey, the views of the fields and hills and the vendors that got on and off at every station. I loved everything about the trip and wished that the journey would never end.
Another childhood memory just as vivid was a trip to Goa where I saw the sea for the first time. I was mesmerized by the sun, sand and waves… I knew then that I would chase sunrises and sunsets forever!.
My love affair with the mountains began much later when I went on my first ever trek in college to the Western Ghats. We trekked to Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka and spent 10 days in the wilderness. I was enthralled with the misty mountains, the clouds and sun playing hide n seek, the deep green forests and the enchanting waterfalls. As John Muir said “The mountains are calling and I must go” was a new mantra that I began to live by.
From then, I think, there has been no looking back. I have been blessed to visit some of the world’s most exquisite and untouched places, and am equally at home in a tent/tea-house as I am ensconced in 5-star luxury.
Running was something I started doing while travelling to keep fit and I found a home and acceptance in the runner’s community as well. There is something about the camaraderie of a run that gives me so much energy!
For me, it’s both the destination and the journey that matter and at Mountains Within, I hope to curate the finest of experiences for you. I hope that you can use our community to meet with fellow travelers, trekkers, runners and I hope that your lives are enriched by these experiences.
Mountains Within is all about travelling, trekking, running, training and our community is built to support, encourage, inspire the future of active travel. Together, let’s say Yes to new adventures.
